Outaouais Biofood Development Plan (PDBO) 2020-2025
The mission of the Table agroalimentaire de l'Outaouais (TAO): concert and coordinate the development, at the regional level, of the biofood sector. Among his main responsibilities is creating and managing a multi-year plan for the sector. To this end, thanks to funding from the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ), it initiated, in January 2019, the implementation of the Outaouais Biofood Development Plan. 2020-2025.
Aware of the importance of mobilizing a multiplicity of actors in the process, the organization surveyed companies and sector partners, and the public:
► Questionnaires to companies and sectoral partners, and to the public;
► A collection of comments in producer meetings;
► Territorial consultations;
► A regional forum. The goal: echo the concerns and priorities of the bio-food sector.
We should mention, in passing, the concern for alignment with territorial planning tools, and the continuation of the efforts inherent in the 2013-2018 planning.
The bio-food sector
The biofood sector - a sector that concentrates agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries; processing activities; retail and wholesale; and food services in hotels, private and public institutions, and restaurants - is an important lever for development. The Politique bioalimentaire 2018-2025. Alimenter notre monde addresses, moreover, its importance for Quebec and the regions. It benefits the local and regional economy, rural-urban interdependence, territorial occupation, landscape and ecosystem preservation, and feeds the population. Finally, it engenders pride: pride in indulging one's passion and making a living from it, and pride in eating Quebec and regional products.
